The Covid 19 Exogenous Shock and the Crafting of New Multilateral Trade Rules on Subsidies and State Enterprises in the Post-Pandemic World

Abstract This Article discusses existing WTO rules on subsidies and state enterprises, relevant caselaw reform prospects in light of key geopolitical developments changes the global economy emerging aftermath Covid-19 pandemic. Following a general introduction, critically analyzes present industrial subsidies, focusing inter alia new problems raised by activist policies pursued trading powers, foreign subsidization, climate change shock environmental exigencies. It then shifts attention to application sector increasing demands for international trade non-subsidies measures address negative spillover effects from government influence state-owned enterprises (SOEs). With respect each these matters, first clarifies terms problem relation caselaw, next examines question how, what extent, “deeper” free agreements (FTAs)—those that experts designate as models reforms matter—establish permit adequately concerns SOEs’ commercial financial activities.
